Purchasing a puppy
pictured below is our beloved rubee (she is a kezia dog) who is pictured here at 15 months old and even as seen here she is still filling out.As you can see it is a very good example of why no breeder can tell you at a very young age which puppy will or won`t make the show ring.As puppies go through several stages of development in the first few months no-one can tell, not even the most experienced of breeders which is the best puppy in the litter, this is why many breeders keep and "grow on" what they deem is the best prospect...at about 12 weeks they all go through the lanky stage before starting to fill out at about 16 weeks and can look quite unlike the finished dog later on...

Boy or Girl?
When considering the sex of your potential new puppy you need to consider exactly what you will expect from them as they grow. There is of course very little difference if raised correctly but for me If it is just as a pet a boy is far better as you will not have to keep them inside for 4-6 weeks during their season along with cleaning the mess and keeping them away from other female dogs.the key to behaviour issues is always down to a lack of training when still a puppy as all bulldogs need this. I think males tend to be more happy go lucky, not taking life too seriously. They love to play and tend to be puppylike for many years If neutered by a year of age, they tend not to have a lot of the male behaviors people may not want. I find it's easier to keep a neutered boy than a girl which is spayed or not.Again it is down to personal choice as all bulldog puppies if raised correctly and have attended training classes will turn out to be irreplacable members of your family.
Purchasing a puppy
Hopefully after reading about the breed and considering your lifestyle you`ve now come to the decision that you want to take the next step and enquire as to the availability of puppies..The first thing to consider is that a good puppy with the best bloodlines is worth waiting for..The type of breeder that only want as much money as they can get from their dog preys on peoples exitement and impatience towards getting their puppy.if a litter is cheaper than other breeders are selling for then there will be a very good reason as to why.the price of a quality puppy reflects the huge amount of time and care needed to raise them and litters like this should be avoided..most of the top breeders can recommend a litter from a collegue if they should not have any available when you enquire..plan your purchase well in advance, this will initially involve a trip to see puppies and to make choices should you wish to...do not allow yourself to be "pressured" into a purchase on the basis that you have travelled and don`t like to leave without making a choice...A bad litter is just that and should be avoided at all costs as people buying puppies like this only makes bad breeding far worse for everyone concerned and you will have many years of not being totally happy with your dog.. From the outset you should expect to visit more than 1 breeder if you are not sure to compare and don`t be afraid to ask to take pictures or even a video if you want to see how the puppies play with each other when you arrive home.Having said that ,good puppies sell fast and as a rule of thumb a responsible breeder will be only too happy to show his/her pedigrees that relate to his dog..you will be spending a lot of money on your purchase so no matter how silly a question may seem, always ask it and if the breeder seems to be taking less interest than you feel they should simply leave...
Now a little about making a purchase from ourselves
Firstly on contacting us you will be able to arrange an appointment to see our puppies which will be for as long as you wish, you won`t be ushered out of the door after 20 mins or so..all our puppies have their pictures posted on our site whenever they are available to view...we have a very busy household with 3 girls and all our animals so it can be quite hectic at times so don`t worry about staying as long as you like..there are also several nice places to eat locally if you have travelled a long way and need "feeding" lol.We take homing our puppies very seriously as do all responsible breeders and always have a chat with any prospective owners as to the suitability of a bull dog in their lives.
As a firm rule we do not hold with just handing over a puppy and bye-bye as the door closes,we will contact you usually a week after collection to check as to his/her wellbeing and we are always on the end of the phone should you need any advice,We would also ask if possible that you could let us know periodically how your puppy is progressing, perhaps an email with an attatched picture or similar? apart from ourselves we have to hand vicky and john nattrass [vicky is also now an author] of kezia and bonifacio...
When you purchase our puppies
You will receive the following from us....1/a safe carrier for your pup for the journey home..2/feeding instructions and a few days supply of same to get you started...3/clear instructions as to the care your new puppy has received so far so you can continue with the same...4/piece of vet bed....5/all the paperwork you require to change ownership of your puppy with the kennel club . 6/we send your puppy off with 4 weeks KC insurance and the kennel club will contact you near the expiry date as to if you wish to take out the full policy or shop around for your own.7/A safe bulldog toy to start you off... 8/ means for he/she taking home the smell of their bedding which you can remove after a day or two should you want to. I think that this covers everything that you would need to start you off with your new puppy,it`s amazing how many people think they have everything and then get home only to realise that in the exitement they forgot a bed! If you would rather buy some of these things yourselves we won`t be offended but would say that most things with puppies don`t last long so a "spare" set is always needed...
Also as an extra gift we also give you a copy of a bulldog book which will answer all the questions you may need to ask except for the ones you need the vet to answer for you.
Deposit
Should you decide you want to purchase one of our little monsters you will be asked to leave a deposit on the day ,..this is so that we know you are committed to your purchase and to cover the costs of advertising or rehoming an older puppy should circumstances mean you are unable to complete your purchase...this deposit is non-refundable due to this.[however should the unthinkable happen whilst your puppy is still in our care we shall of course refund your deposit]..you will be given a proper receipt which will state the amount of deposit and on which puppy.
Your payment balance is due on the day of collection and again you will be given a receipt for this stating final payment in full
A small request on our part is that when you contact us we shall ask for your contact details and home phone number sadly there are many people out there who will go to great lengths to steal a litter of puppies.
At no time are any of our puppies left unsupervised,we even sleep with them!

future prospect for the show ring..
this is the type of puppy everyone should be aiming for
when looking at litters,
we shall be planning another mating from rubee
during 2011 we will announce any litters on this web site
on our home page....
Please feel free to download this fun desktop wallpaper
Right click your mouse and choose set as background
A short word regarding insurance and micro-chipping,all our puppies are micro-chipped before leaving us and we would recommend the one off payment on the web based database so that any changes you wish to make in the future can be made online without any fees payable to yourselves..should your dog go missing or be stolen within minutes the database can be informed and any vet scanning for a chip ID can verify ownership straight away should your dog present themselves in their surgery...Insurance..when you purchase a puppy from us it will come ready insured for 4 weeks..there are many insurers on the market and prices vary from about 300 to in excess of 500 per annum ..having said this you do get what you pay for so careful consideration is necessary before choosing...vets bills can be very very high these days so check that the specific ailments that may apply to your breed are covered before taking out any policy...
Returning A Puppy
Should the unthinkable happen and for whatever reason you feel you cannot keep your puppy and wish to return it we shall of course be only too happy to take them back as we take responsibility for our puppies very seriously..We must stress at this point that there will be no refund of purchase price under any circumstances..This is due to the returned dogs upkeep for the rest of it`s life as there are few people that will take on an older dog.. or should you prefer to, the bulldog rescue site can help with rehoming for you, there is a link to this site on the useful links page ...many breeders will not do this after a sale, however as we have stated the dogs well being always comes first with us.
